Andy Warhol
The man himself.
Andy Warhol was arguably one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. His unique view on the world and what constitutes art, celebrity and fame has influenced artists across all genres from painting and sculpture to performance art, music, fashion and more. Warhol embodied what it looks like to be an artist in contemporary times. His iconic soup cans, Brillo boxes and Marilyns are some of the most recognizable artworks worldwide, yet they hardly encompass everything he created in his prolific career. In addition to his art-making, Warhol was an important impresario in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, helping to discover, elevate and make mainstream artists like The Velvet Underground, Edie Sedgwick, Jean Michel Basquiat and countless more in his stable of Superstars.

While Warhol’s influence on fashion is undeniable, his own style was often understated save for his penchant for silver wigs. Recreating his look is surprisingly easy, perhaps because the pieces he’s best known for wearing are American classics…never out of style.
