Green Room Collective
About Face Theatre is seeking early-career individuals the join our Green Room Collective program for our current producing season. This is a part-time position estimated to take about 20 hours per week and pays $15.50/hour.
This application portal will remain open until November 29, 2022 . All applications will be reviewed after that date. Candidates moving forward in the process will be contacted for an interview. We anticipate the positions will have a start date in January 2023.
Development Manager
About Face Theatre is seeking to fill the vital staff role of Development Manager. The Development Manager will be a strategic and collaborative leader who demonstrates the company’s values through their key responsibilities. Reporting to the Artistic Director and Managing Director, the Development Manager is a full-time position responsible for overseeing all fundraising activities for About Face Theatre including individual and major gifts, fundraising appeals, planned giving, and events. The Development Manager will collaborate with the staff to develop synchronous efforts between programming, finance, and fundraising to sustain a vibrant organization. Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director and Managing Director to identify fundraising goals.
- Propose effective and creative strategies to meet those goals.
- Collaborate across staff departments and with the Board to implement agreed upon strategies.
- Work in partnership with the Managing Director to track progress on the annual budget and fundraising calendar.
- Work closely with the Board Development Committee and provide data and strategies as needed to support Board-led projects. Provide timely and current development progress reports for Board meetings.
Individual Giving
- Implement a comprehensive development strategy to cultivate individual donors including major gifts.
- Steward the development pipeline with new and expanded relationships, follow up letters, invitations to special events, personal calls, etc.
- Ensure appropriate donor recognition at all giving levels.
- Coordinate meetings for major donors to engage with the Artistic Director, Managing Director, and Board leadership.
- Collaborate with the Board to provide training and data to support Board-led fundraising activities.
- Plan and execute multiple appeal campaigns each fiscal year.
- Maintain and regularly update AFT’s donor database.
- Effectively communicate AFT’s mission and reasons for giving in fundraising and related materials.
Institutional Giving
- Collaborate with the staff to communicate the value of the mission as well as programming and operational highlights for use in grant proposals.
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director and Managing Director to prepare and submit grant proposals and reports.
- Maintain AFT’s fundraising calendar, including oversight of individual giving campaigns and grant application and reporting deadlines.
Special Events
- Oversee planning and preparation for all fundraising events and steer planning committees. AFT events may include an annual gala, opening night receptions, house parties, and other types of events.
- Serve as the lead in executing all event logistics.
- Secure event sponsors, track contracts, and ensure AFT honors its obligations with respect to these contracts.
- Support Board members in planning and executing their fundraising and stewardship events or parties on AFT’s behalf.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- You enjoy building relationships and organizing people around a common cause.
- You have experience in leading teams and tracking budgets as well as managing details and meeting deadlines.
- You have experience in organizing and implementing fundraising and mailing campaigns and special events.
- You have strong listening, problem solving, and interpersonal skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
- You are comfortable using a computer, have some knowledge of patron databases and a capacity to learn new systems.
- You have a passion for the mission of About Face Theatre and a desire to engage with multiple communities of LGBTQIA+ people that create, enjoy, and sustain the company’s work.
Work Hours, Compensation, Benefits
Full-time, salary range $44,000-$50,000
Benefits package includes access to AFT’s group health insurance plan, access to 401k retirement plan, paid vacation, sick leave, and option for flexible hybrid working hours.
