She’s back!

Fresh from a concert at Joe’s Pub in New York City with a revamped book and expanded score, last year’s queer holiday hit WE THREE LIZAS is back… and better than ever!  Box maker Conrad Ticklebottom’s life has hit a stumbling block. Once, Conrad and his purple box ignited an entire movement in art and design, but now he finds himself alone, forgotten and teetering on ruin.

The holidays bring three magical figures to his door – a trio of Liza Minnellis to escort him on a fabulous journey through what-was, what-could-be and what-the-f*?!, redeeming his lost promise and re-inventing a brand-new Conrad Ticklebottom.  It’s a darkly sparkly holiday musical spinning a tale of hope, transformation…and the power of Liza!

Enjoy Special Scenes from THE PRIDE

Over the next two weeks we’ll be sharing special clips from THE PRIDE with you.  If you’ve already seen the play, we hope you enjoy revisiting some of our favorite scenes.  If you haven’t seen it yet…what are you waiting for?!  We promise not to give away too much in these scenes but if you want to be surprised, you probably don’t want to watch them.

What we can say with certainty is that seeing the entire performance in person is a powerful experience you won’t soon forget.  And now, enjoy…

Scenes from THE PRIDE Part 1: In 1958, Oliver arrives at the home of Sylvia and Philip for a quick drink before the trio heads out for dinner.

THE PRIDE is a Smash Hit!

CLICK HERE TO GET TICKETS FOR OUR FINAL PERFORMANCES!

Due to popular demand, About Face Theatre’s critically acclaimed Chicago premiere of THE PRIDE by Alexi Kaye Campbell (Olivier Award) and directed by Bonnie Metzgar has added two additional weeks of performances – extending through Saturday, July 28, 2013.

Two story lines, fifty years apart. Set in London, the time-shifting play THE PRIDE is a sharp, witty portrait of urban gay couples and the punishing consequences of liberation.  THE PRIDE is JEFF RECOMMENDED and features AFT Artistic Associates Patrick Andrews, John Francisco and Benjamin Sprunger with Jessie Fisher.

Regular run tickets are $30 if you purchase them by July 13 but go up to $40 on July 18.  That means you”d better buy them this week!  Student tickets are $15, and group rates are available.

Here”s what they”re saying about THE PRIDE:

“Metzgar catches the melancholy present in the writing and also the visual link between past and present, linked by the various identities we must wear, sometimes of our choosing, sometimes not at all…There”s no show to better honor pride week in Chicago.” – Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune

“Bonnie Metzgar”s sensitive production—her final act as About Face Theatre”s outgoing artistic director—fluidly navigates the tricky shifts between scenes and periods…Metzgar”s cast is equally remarkable…The Pride”s takeaway is how extraordinarily far we”ve come, and how far we”ve yet to go.” –Kris Vire, Time Out Chicago

“The script enables Francisco and Andrews to switch places of power and it’s effective…Both actors bring empathy to their characters’ logic, making their decisions accessible and infuriating.” – Lisa Buscani, Newcity

“Under the masterful direction of Bonnie Metzgar, the acting is in one word: *excellent*…THE PRIDE is a living memorial to the past, present and future GLBT community.” – Katy Walsh, Chicago Now

THE PRIDE is on stage now – Saturday, July 13, 2013.
Show Times: Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 pm; Saturdays at 5 pm & 9 pm (through July 13) and Saturdays at 3 pm & 7:30 pm (July 20 – 27); Sundays at 5 pm. Please note: There will not be a performance on Sunday, July 14.
