About Face Youth Theatre Ensemble Presents: 20/20

July 12 – July 28  |  Center on Halsted

 3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL  60613

Can lessons from the past help us create the world we want?

20/20 is a theatre and dialogue project based on true stories across generations. Through powerful storytelling, bold movement, and fiery spoken word, this world premiere reveals the lessons of recent LGBTQIA history as a guide for mobilizing toward a more just future. The AFYT ensemble, made up of youth ages 13-24 from around the Chicagoland area, is developing this show in collaboration with adult artists and community leaders. 20/20 will premiere during the 20th anniversary year of About Face Youth Theatre.

Lead artists on this project are Megan Carney, Artistic Director of About Face Theatre and Founder of AFYT, Donny Acosta, Associate Director of AFYT, Mia Vivens, Associate Director of Outreach and Engagement, Youth Task Force members Jimbo Pestano, Via Haman, and Sharon Pasia, and the AFYT Ensemble members. This project is engaging with Chicago’s diverse LGBTQ+ communities with specific partnerships to be announced soon.
