About Face Theatre (AFT), Chicago’s award-winning LGBTQA theatre company seeks a dynamic and competent Manager of Institutional and Individual Giving. The primary responsibilities of this position include researching, writing, and maintaining corporate and foundation grants, managing the annual fund, tracking and acknowledging all incoming donations and fostering a strong relationship with new and longtime donors. Additionally, the development manager will be a integral member of the fundraising team, contributing to event planning and strategy development. S/he will work closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director and the Board of Directors (BOD) in implementing AFT’s long and short term fundraising campaigns for each fiscal year.

JOB TITLE: Manager of Institutional and Individual Giving
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
HOURS/STATUS: Full-time; exempt
BASIC FUNCTION: To lead the theatre’s foundation, corporate and individual giving initiatives in order to sustain and expand the financial and organizational capacity of About Face Theatre.
BUDGETING RESPONSIBILITY: N/A
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee all database management and gift-tracking
- Manage full-cycle grant process from initial research to reporting
- Participate in fundraising events, supporting BOD and staff annual benefits and cultivation events.
- Work with Executive Director to develop prospective corporate, foundation, and individual donors through targeted cultivation events, meetings, etc.
- Manage and expand solicitation campaigns for the Annual Fund through mail, email, and phone campaigns and as well as through audience appeals.
- Assist the Executive Director in all fundraising activities.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform special projects as required or requested.
- Interest in theatre and/or LGBTQ organizations a plus.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Proven professional experience in development and grant writing
- Experience in LGBTQ community-based and/or arts fundraising
- Strong written, organizational and general communication skills
- Leadership capability in representing the organization
- Ability to work well in dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to think and plan ahead of schedule
- Experience with donor management software
- Attention to detail
SALARY: Commensurate with Experience
